Florent Cuvelier says Walsall are determined to extend their outstanding Boxing Day record when they travel to take on Port Vale.

The Saddlers head to Burslem for the festive clash where they will face a Valiants team currently sat one place below them in League One.

Incredibly, Walsall have won more points on Boxing Day than almost any other club in the country since the introduction of the Premier League in 1992.

Only Swansea, Coventry, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United have a better record on December 26 across the top four divisions.

And now Cuvelier is determined to give Saddlers fans more festive cheer on Monday.

"The important thing for us is to go on a really good run throughout Christmas and the New Year," the talented Belgian said.

"We need to stay focused and take each game as it comes. But we have got Port Vale, Oxford and Rochdale in quick succession so it's a great opportunity.

"A 1-1 draw against Bradford was a good result and now hopefully we can build on that, go on a winning run and shoot right up the table.

"Around this time of the year if you go on a good run it can put you in a very strong position. But it can also go the other way as well.

"All the lads are focused and we all know how important these games are. We are really up for it."

Cuvelier rejoined the Saddlers in the summer after previously enjoying two successful loans with the club back in 2012.

But his return to the Banks's Stadium has been blighted by an ankle injury which the 24-year-old picked up in August.

And after suffering a series of injuries throughout his career, Cuvelier says he can sense a will amongst Saddlers supporters for him to succeed.

"I'm desperate to get back to my best both for me and the fans here," the former Stoke man said.

"I can sense they that want me to succeed. I had two successful loans spells here which I really enjoyed and now I'm back in the team again it's a great feeling.

"I'm now desperate to have a good run of games. I want to see the fans being happy and the place buzzing again."
