The Saddlers host Stuart McCall's Bradford at the Banks's Stadium tomorrow with their season at a crossroads following a disappointing week that has seen them lose to Fleetwood in the league and Oldham in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Defeat to the Latics ensured Jon Whitney's men have now exited all three cup competitions they entered this season.

And with the team currently sat 16th in League One, Chambers accepts they must do better.

"We need to raise our levels to make sure we get a result on Saturday," the 36-year-old said. "Then we need to take that into the second half of the campaign because we are halfway through now. We have lost a few games and we know, outside, there is a lot of doom and gloom.

"But we are confident. There are still a lot games to be played.

"The important thing now is to make sure we concentrate on ourselves and start to put in the performances we know we are capable of."

While the season is yet to pan out how Chambers wanted, the captain insists there is nothing wrong with the team's attitude and application.

"We are trying our best and working hard to put things right," he continued.

"We want to give the fans a team and performances to be proud of. We want to see them enjoying themselves.

"We know there are things we can improve on but the potential in the squad is huge.

"As a group, we know we have been inconsistent in recent times.

"But earlier in the season we went on a good run and I am confident we will do that again.

"I fully understand it's been a frustrating time for the fans.

"But we need them to get behind us and back us and we will get it right."

Chambers admits he is expecting a tough game when the high-flying Bantams head to the West Midlands.

"At times they can be quite direct in their play," he added. "They put you under a lot of pressure.

"But football is full of ups and downs and while the past two results have not been great, we are determined to use tomorrow's game as a platform to kick on."
