Walsall Chief Executive Stefan Gamble appointed on EFL board

Gamble replaces outgoing memeber Andy Ambler who leaves the role following his appointment as Head of Professional Game relations at the Football Association.

Gamble has been Walsall's CEO since 2010, having previously held the position of Financial Director since arriving at the Banks's Stadium in the summer of 2002.

He's also served as an Alternate Director for League One and an active member of the EFL's Commercial Committee.

"Personally it is a real honour," said the Walsall Chief Executive.

"I am delighted to have been handed this opportunity to work on behalf of all League One clubs and I will endeavour to represent them, and their issues, to the best of my ability during the course of my tenure.

"The EFL and its clubs across the three divisions continue to be faced with many varied challenges and opportunities and as a member of the Board, I hope to be able to make a valuable and lasting contribution that can yield collective benefit.

"It will also stand Walsall Football Club in good stead as I will be suitably placed to represent the club's interest in a variety of ways."

EFL Chairman Ian Lenagan was very pleased to welcome the newest member of the EFL Board:

"I'd like to welcome Stefan to the EFL Board. He brings with him considerable experience having been involved in professional football for over 15 years. The majority of that time has been spent as CEO in League One, so he understands the landscape well and this will no doubt prove hugely beneficial to all our clubs in the division and the wider EFL."

He added: "I'd also like to place on record my thanks to Andy Ambler, who has had made a particularly impressive contribution to the EFL in recent seasons and for that he is widely respected by all our clubs and many more within the game. It is no surprise that he is moving on to head up professional game relations at the FA and everyone at the EFL wishes him the very best of luck in the future."
