Walsall sign free agent Simeon Jackson
Walsall have completed the signing of Simeon Jackson after the striker agreed terms on a two-year deal.
The 29-year-old, who has won 47 caps for Canada, joins on a free transfer after leaving Blackburn Rovers at the end of last season.
Jackson moved to England from Jamaica aged 15 and forged a reputation as a prolific goalscorer with Rushden & Diamonds and Gillingham.
He was signed by Norwich in the summer of 2010 for £600,000 and, across three seasons at Carrow Road, scored 21 goals in 85 appearances.
Since then the forward has had spells at Eintracht Braunschweig in Germany, Millwall, Coventry City and Barnsley.
But he has struggled for impact in recent years, scoring just six in his last 60 appearances.
Now Jackson is looking forward to getting back amongst the goals, after being impressed by the philosophy outlined by boss Jon Whitney.
The forward said: "I've had a look around place and I get a really good vibe, so it feels great to have signed. It was all down to the gaffer really.
He told me how much he wanted me and the environment they are looking to build here and the philosophy of the club.
"We spoke and he outlined his plans for me and the club and we managed to get it done."

The striker also outlined what he hopes to bring to Walsall's team. He added: "I want to come here, play as many games as I can, score goals and cause defenders problems.
"I love playing on the shoulder, making runs and creating chances. It's a new challenge for me, being a senior in the changing room.
"From what I know and have seen in my short time here, the set up looks really good.
"The club just missed out (on promotion) last season and hopefully they can learn from it and be up there again this time."
