The 26-year-old has agreed a one-year deal, with a further year's option, to move to the Banks's Stadium.

"I'd been after Franck for three to four weeks so it's great for me and great for the club that he's signed," Whitney said.

"I've watched him over the years and he's tormented teams. He'll bring pace, individual flair and goals. He's a goalscorer and a game changer.

He can see the potential of this club and the potential of this young team."

Meanwhile, Tom Bradshaw trained with Walsall yesterday despite speculation he is set to leave the club.

Rotherham and Barnsley have made bids for the Welsh striker this summer.

Bradshaw's exit looked to be edging closer after he was left out of the Walsall squad that played a friendly against Norwich on Saturday. But he was at Walsall's training ground yesterday, while Rotherham flew out to Poland for a pre-season tour.

One player who has departed the Saddlers is recent signing Theo Vassell. The defender, 19, has joined National League outfit Chester on loan.
