WATCH: Rotherham may break transfer record to land Walsall's Tom Bradshaw

Boss Alan Stubbs has confirmed Rotherham are willing to 'considerably' break their transfer record as speculation mounts they have bid for Tom Bradshaw.

The Express & Star understands the Walsall forward is a top target for the Millers who are desperate to avoid another relegation battle in the Championship.

Walsall manager Jon Whitney has publicly stated his desire to keep his star striker at the Banks's.

But it is believed a bid of £750,000 rising to £1million would entice the Saddlers board to sell with Bradshaw having just one year remaining on his contract.

Asked whether he was interested is signing Bradshaw, Stubbs said: "No comment – you can read into that what you want.

"I can't speak about individuals that are still at football clubs. It would be wrong to do that. All I will say is that we are trying to be very active right now."

Stubbs though was willing to confirm he has lodged bids for players and that one of the fees would surpass £400,000 – the amount the Millers paid for Jonson Clarke-Harris in the summer of 2014.

"Yes. I would envisage that – considerably," Stubbs said when asked if Rotherham will break their transfer record. We have got a couple of bids in for players. One of them is significant.

"We're just waiting to hear back from them. What positions? Important positions!"

If Bradshaw was to move to the New York Stadium he will team up again with Anthony Forde, who signed a three-year deal with the Millers last month.
