Boss Jon Whitney has told clubs interested in signing striker Tom Bradshaw to stump up the asking price or "forget it."

The Saddlers star, who has scored 20 goals in each of the last two seasons, is known to be interesting a host of clubs throughout the Football League.

Barnsley made an offer of £250,000 rising to £400,000 last month that was promptly rejected by the Walsall board.

Rotherham are also keen on the 23-year-old but are yet to make a bid while Nottingham Forest and Reading are believed to be monitoring the striker's situation.

But Whitney wants to keep the Welshman and has told clubs interested to get serious with their offers or look elsewhere.

The manager said: "There is going to be interest but Tom has got a market value. He is a striker that scores one in two.

"You cannot just let him go. Some of the offers are just people fishing. If they are serious they need to come up with a serious offer, because Tom is a Walsall player.

"I see him in my squad and I'd love him to stay. I plan to use him in the friendly against Norwich next week."

Despite all speculation surrounding his future, Whitney reckons Bradshaw has behaved like the perfect professional.

The Saddlers boss continued: "Tom has been at the front of all the running the past few days - his attitude is great. He has always given the club the utmost respect."

Meanwhile, Romaine Sawyers and Andy Taylor yesterday completed their moves to Brentford and Blackpool respectively - with Sawyers paying tribute to the Saddlers on social media.

He said: "I'll always have a place in my heart for a club that gave me the platform to score my first professional goal, to surpass 100 league appearances, and to play at the home of English football.

"It's been a real honour to wear the Walsall shirt and I hope the club can continue to prosper next season."

Elsewhere, Walsall have missed out on a potential £6million windfall after former striker Troy Deeney signed a new five-year deal with Watford.

Deeney was a target for Premier League champions Leicester who were believed to be willing to pay £30m for his services.

Walsall sold Deeney to the Hornets for £500,000 in 2010, in a deal that entitled them to 20 per cent of any profit.
