Walsall secure loan deal for West Ham youngster George Dobson
Walsall have snapped up promising midfielder George Dobson on a season long loan from West Ham.
The 18-year-old is the Saddlers sixth signing of the summer as boss Jon Whitney continues to re-shape his squad ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
"George is someone we noticed a few months ago and we done our homework on him and spoke with West Ham," said boss Jon Whitney.
"He's held in really high regard and he's a player who plays beyond his years.
"They brought him in from Arsenal where he played as a centre half but was moved forward to play as a holding midfielder which is where we see him playing.
"I'm sure he'll come in and really strengthen our team.
"I know he'll go on to be a top player of highest level and we're lucky that West Ham have entrusted us with his development for next twelve months.
"Age isn't a factor and if he comes in and is good enough then he will play. He's here to fight for a place in the team."
Dobson began his career with Arsenal where he captained their under-18 side and also featured in the UEFA Youth League.
A boy hood Hammer, he completed a dream move to West Ham last summer and was part of the side that won the under-21 Premier League Cup.
He was also named on the bench by boss Slaven Bili? for the Premier League clashes against Tottenham and Everton last season.
