Five midfielders that Walsall could target
Joe Masi takes a look at five midfielders that Walsall boss Jon Whitney could target this summer.
Oscar Gobern

The Birmingham-born midfielder has long been on Walsall's radar with former boss Dean Smith admitting his interest in the 25-year-old last summer. Gobern was expected to sign for a League One club in 2015 but won a deal at QPR after inpressing on trial. However, he is a free agent once again after making just two appearances at Loftus Road.
Josh Wright

So far the only player to be linked with the Saddlers by an official news source, tough-tackling Wright has recently seen his contract expire at Gillingham. Boss Justin Edinburgh is keen for him to stay but as yet the brother of reality TV star Mark Wright has not put pen to paper with Huddersfield and Scunthorpe also keen.
Ousmane Fane

The Kidderminster Harriers midfielder is known to interesting clubs throughout the Football League after shining towards the end of the campaign. Quick, strong in the tackle and powerful when moving forward, the Frenchman seems tailor made for the English game. Derby and Birmingham have been linked but a move to League One seems a more natural progression.
Florent Cuvelier

The Belgian enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Saddlers back in 2012 and scored the goal that ensured they retained their League One status. Now 23, Cuvelier's creativity and energy means he is capable of being one of the best midfielders in the division. Intriguingly, he also recently changed his profile picture on Twitter to show him in his Walsall days.
Emmanuel Ledesema

Another former Saddler's loanee, the potential in Ledesma is unquestionable and yet a whole host of clubs have opted to move the attacking Argentinian midfielder on.
With doubts surrounding the futures of both Romaine Sawyers and Milan Lalkovic, his talent is potentially worth the risk with the 28-year-old available on a free.
