The 21-year-old academy graduate, who had a year to run on his previous deal, will now remain at the Banks's Stadium until the summer of 2018.

Morris made a big impression on the Walsall first team last season with the talented youngster starting 18 games for the Saddlers and coming off the bench on a further 24 occasions.

Versatile and confident with both feet, the Hereford-born star impressed on the wing and in a central midfield role as Walsall secured a third-placed finish in League One. Morris enjoyed a successful loan spell at Wrexham in the 2014/15 campaign.

But after scoring three goals for Jon Whitney's side last season, he has now set his sights on beating that tally next year.

"I'm delighted to sign a new deal," Morris said. "I've played a lot more games this season and I'm really enjoying my football at the moment. Last year I had to go out on loan and gain that experience but ever since I returned I think I've kicked on again.

"Everyone knows if I get the chance I'm not afraid to shoot and I'm probably a little unlucky to have only scored three times to be honest. I think I hit the post more than anyone else this season.

"Walsall's a great club for young players to develop and we've got a good group of young players coming through at the moment.

"You get a chance to prove yourself here and if you're good enough you'll be thrown in. Hopefully next year I can start even more games and score more goals."

Meanwhile, striker Tom Bradshaw was part of the Wales squad that flew out to Portugal yesterday for a warm weather training camp ahead of Euro 2016.

The Saddlers striker, who scored 20 goals in 50 appearances last season, will be aiming to impress boss Chris Coleman in a bid to cement his place on the plane to France.

The Wales manager will announce his final 23-man squad for the European Championships on Tuesday.
