A 15 minute James Hanson hat-trick as well as a Filipe Morais header saw Phil Parkinson's side run-riot at Valley Parade.

In a match the Bantams dominated from the off, Phil Parkinson's men would have scored more but for the performance of Saddlers keeper Neil Etheridge.

And Whitney was far from happy, saying: "It was not good enough - I am not going stand here and insult the fans intelligence.

"I have asked the players to have a look at themselves. I'm not going to stand there and lose my head like the old Jon would have done years back.

"I want to look at it logically. I want the players to go home and really ask themselves, did you really, really do enough to challenge Bradford?

"Did you do enough to want to get promoted to the Championship? Were you willing to put your head on the line because sometimes that is what you have to do in football.

"It's not always about playing pretty football. We have to match them physically and we didn't do it second half."

After defending well in the first half, Whitney was particularly disappointed with the way his side crumbled following Morais' opener.

He continued: "We capitulated after the first goal and I am going to look at individuals.

"We are at the stage of the season where I want to see who comes in Monday and who is ready for the fight.

"Who is willing to put themselves on the line, when it doesn't go to plan and fight for this football club?

"That second half, promotion was just words. You have to turn it into action and that is what Bradford did. I have to bounce back and I will bounce back with players who are with me.

"If you don't want to come with me, then you need to come and knock on my door and say it's too much because I'm not going to be put through that again second half.

"Me and my coaching staff deserve more. Some of the players deserve more. The fans deserve more. There were a few harsh words but sometimes in life you need to have harsh words."
