Walsall FC: Injury reduces Tom Bradshaw's Wales chances to one

Walsall striker Tom Bradshaw has been ruled out of Wales' friendly with Northern Ireland tonight – leaving him just one chance to impress at international level ahead of Euro 2016.

The 23-year-old will miss the Home Nations clash at the Cardiff City Stadium with a minor hamstring niggle but is expected to fit for Monday's game against Ukraine in Kiev.

Boss Chris Coleman has named Bradshaw in his last two Wales squads but the forward is yet to make his debut after being an unused substitute against Holland in November.

Speaking after that game, Coleman admitted he had been impressed with the striker who has scored 18 times this season.

Bradshaw was restricted to 37 appearances for the Saddlers last year after being blighted by hamstring problems.

But he still managed to score 20 goals and worked throughout the summer to put the issue behind him.

Now Walsall boss Jon Whitney is hoping he will make his Wales debut against Ukraine after admitting he has been delighted with the striker's form.

"Tom has been brilliant and his record in front of goal is incredible," he said.

"He's with Wales and I'd love for him to top it off with an appearance and a cap because he deserves it."

"He will then come back to us even more confident."

Bradshaw has netted three times in his last four games for the Saddlers as he closes in on his second 20-goal haul.

"I was looking at the statistics after the Fleetwood game and I get a picture of where the goals go," Whitney added.

"Tom had one shot and it was right in the top corner.

"And against Colchester his first touch took him away from the defender and then he finished it really well. He is always a threat and with Tom you always have a chance."
