Euro 2016 hopes rise as Walsall's super Tom Bradshaw gets call
Tom Bradshaw's hopes of making it to Euro 2016 have been given a major boost after Wales boss Chris Coleman confirmed places in his squad are still up for grabs.
The Walsall striker received his second call-up to the senior Wales side yesterday and will now hope to feature in friendlies against Northern Ireland on Thursday and Ukraine on Easter Monday.
Bradshaw was previously named in the squad for a friendly against Holland and impressed Coleman despite being an unused substitute. Now he has been given another chance to make an impact as Wales look to finalise their preparations for France.
"This squad gives us a chance to look at guys like Tom Bradshaw," Coleman said. "It's good for us ahead of a tournament to run our eyes over them. It's a big positive for us.
"There are still opportunities to impress. I have a good idea what my strongest 23 is but there will be injuries and players who aren't playing for their clubs. But there are one or two places up for grabs and if you are playing every week you have a better chance to shine."
Bradshaw, who will play for Walsall today against Colchester, admitted the call-up caps a great week which saw him score his 17th goal of the season in the win at Fleetwood.
"Jon Whitney called me into his office and when he told me I was absolutely over the moon," the 23-year-old said. "I wasn't really expecting it. Most of the squad are fit and last time I was called up there were one or two injuries so to get in this time is amazing.
"It is going to be a great experience. To play with that calibre of player is always great and I'm sure it is going to be a really enjoyable and really exciting week.
"In terms of the Euros we'll just have to wait and see. It's just great to be part of the squad, especially with Euro 2016 around the corner."
Bradshaw's call-up has seen Walsall's Easter Monday clash with Shrewsbury re-arranged for Tuesday April 26.
