Walsall put Jon Whitney in charge of first-team affairs
Walsall have confirmed coach Jon Whitney has been placed in charge of first-team affairs following the sacking of Sean O'Driscoll.
Whitney, whose official title is first-team performance coach, will be assisted by Neil Cutler and John Ward.
The trio previously enjoyed three games in joint-caretaker charge when Dean Smith opted to move to Brentford in November.
It is not clear how long they will be in charge for, with the Express & Star understanding they have been appointed on a game-by-game basis.
A Walsall statement said: "Walsall Football Club can today confirm that First Team Performance Coach, Jon Whitney will take control of first team affairs.
"Whitney will be assisted by First Team Coach, Neil Cutler and Professional Development Coach, John Ward ahead of Saturday's League One fixture with Chesterfield.
"The club will be making no further comment at this time."
