The soaring Saddlers continue their quest to reach the Championship when Neil Harris brings his fellow promotion hopefuls to the Banks's Stadium.

Sean O'Driscoll's side moved back up to second in League One with victory at Doncaster on Tuesday. They also enjoy a 12-point cushion over Millwall, who occupy the last play-off spot.

But when asked if he is becoming more excited by the Saddlers' promotion chances, O'Driscoll insisted there's still a long way to go.

"I don't get excited – trust me," O'Driscoll said. "There's 18 games to go so 12 points is nothing.

"In football you can't take anything for granted.

"It's a really small squad and the temptation in the window was to bring two or three people in.

"We opted against it because they've got where they've got doing what they've done and you've got to give them responsibility and credit.

"We lost a goalkeeper one week and just round the corner you might have a banana skin where someone gets sent off or someone suffers a bad injury. You need a bit of luck on your side so touch wood we can keep the squad going and the more you win games the more things seem to go for you."

O'Driscoll has enjoyed a fine start since replacing Dean Smith as the Banks's – with the new head coach winning five, drawing two and losing just one of his eight league games in charge.

But the boss was quick to praise the impact the coaches Jon Whitney and Neil Cutler who have remained at the club despite Smith's departure.

"I'm lucky that two members of staff have stayed so I've leaned on them heavily. Their opinion really counts as they know the players better than I do," he said.
