Sean O'Driscoll: Walsall not daunted by prospect of promotion
Walsall boss Sean O'Driscoll has insisted that his side aren't daunted by facing promotion hunting Millwall tomorrow.
The Saddlers welcome Millwall to The Banks's Stadium tomorrow with their visitors looking to go five unbeaten in League One.
O'Driscoll, whose side remains second, one point behind leaders Burton Albion, oversaw the Boxing Day clash at The Den, where the hosts edged a 1-0 win.
But the boss expects his side to see the former Championship outfit as any other.
He said: "When you go out go a football pitch nobody thinks about the size or status of who you're against.
"It's 11 v 11 and we've been consistent in the performances for a long time and you'd hope that, barring injuries and a drastic loss of form, that we can keep the performances going.
"The results are sometimes in the lap of the gods but if we can perform at the level we have then we give ourselves a good chance in every game that we play."
The former Liverpool assistant, who only has goalkeeper Neil Etheridge absent through injury for Millwall's visit, conceded that many of their promotion rivals are more-equipped for a charge to the summit.
"Any team that's been in the Championship and come down to League One are a big side," O'Driscoll added.
"When we played them over Christmas they were trying to say that there was no pressure on them to go straight back up and trying to come to terms of the division.
"But if you look at their team, they're as strong as anybody in the league. It wouldn't surprise you if them, Wigan, Sheffield United and Coventry – all of the big teams – become stronger as the season comes into its final stages because their squads are so much stronger than everyone else's.
"This will be a difficult game for us, but the players have played Millwall before, so they don't need me to tell them that it's going to be tough."
