Jason Demetriou: Walsall have the belief
Defender Jason Demetriou thinks belief is growing that Walsall have what it takes to secure automatic promotion to the Championship.
The right-back reckons Monday's victory over a strong Peterborough United side highlighted Saddlers' togetherness, as they maintained their position at the League One summit.
The 28-year-old said: "It's a great feeling, as we are starting to believe a little bit more. We know it is in our hands now.
"The squad, the staff and the people around the club, this is a good place to be and we are doing it all together as a group, as a collection.
"There are no individuals. It's a massive team effort and now we have to keep going."
Cyprus international Demetriou added: "It was a massive effort. I think these games are always difficult, two games in three days is hard work but the boys dug in right until the very end.
"It was a great result. It was probably our best result of the season so far because they are a good team.
"They are organised and it was a very different team we played at the start of the summer, during the beginning of the season.
"They have got some good players and a 2-0 win, after that big effort, was massive and the boys are absolutely buzzing."
Demetriou hailed the approach of new boss Sean O'Driscoll, who now has three wins from his first three games in charge.
He said: "Sean has come in and the best thing is he hasn't changed too much. He has just helped us try to improve on the pitch, because what was happening on the pitch is being run perfectly."
