Saddlers fans poured through the turnstiles at the Banks's to watch the team's historic Wembley run.

Those extra ticket sales boosted turnover at the club to £5.6 million, up £325,000 on the previous year's total.

That helped boost trading profits in the 12 months to May this year to £26,000, up from £19,000 the year before.

Chairman Jeff Bonser applauded the backing loyal fans gave the team, saying: "I would once again like to say big thank you to our supporters for their continued loyaltyty and commitment to the club.

"I would like to assure them that all of our efforts and hard work are focused on continuing to give them a team and a club to be proud of."

Bonser is "delighted" at the hike in profits, adding that the club's long-term debt had been reduced by £144,000.

But the reduction in debt was less than half the £377,000 the club had managed to wipe off the year before.

The club's latest set of accounts also reveal that wages and salaries for the year were up to almost £2.8million, from £2.56m the year before.

Playing and coaching staff had risen by four over the year to 81, with 50 other staff.
