Saddlers in the hunt for a top-flight youngster
Dean Smith claims no-one has greater expectations for the season ahead than Walsall's players after confirming he is hunting a Premier League starlet.
The Saddlers boss is in negotiations with a top-flight club as he looks to further bolster his squad.
But Smith, who is also this week running the rule over two trialists, admitted negotiations were proceeding slowly.
"I'm currently speaking to a club and hopefully moving things along there but it is involving a Premier League player, with their under-21s and it is taking a little bit longer," he said. "We have a couple of trialists in at the moment. They have been with us the last five or six days and we are having a good look at them."
Despite an encouraging start to the season, which has seen his team take seven points from the opening three games, Smith remains keen to increase his options.
After winning three straight away from home, the Saddlers return to the Banks's tomorrow when they welcome League One leaders Coventry for a derby clash, with the boss confident they can cope with any additional pressure their bright start might bring.
"There is nobody who expects more than the players do," he said.
