Walsall video: Matt Maher on the hunt for new players
Dean Smith has confirmed he is in negotiations with a Premier League club as he looks to add more strength to Walsall's squad.
Despite the Saddlers making an excellent start to the season, Smith is eager to add at least two new faces before the end of the month.
One of those is an under-21 player at a Premier League club, though negotiations are progressing slowly.
"I'm currently speaking to a club and hopefully moving things along there but it is involving a Premier League player, with their under-21s and it is taking a little bit longer," he said.
"We have a couple of trialists in at the moment. They have been with us the last five or six days and we are having a good look at them."
Smith meanwhile expects Andy Taylor to be fit for Saturday's visit of early League One pacesetters Coventry.
The left-back was forced off late in Tuesday's 2-1 win at Rochdale after sustaining a blow to the ankle.
Smith said: "He should be fit, he says he is a lot looser.
"It was a whack just above his shin - a good fair, tackle but he should be OK I think. He is doing a recovery today and will train tomorrow.
"Everyone else is fighting fit. It is one of those times when everyone wants to be in the squad and I am having to make some tough decisions on the squad, let alone the team.
