Video: Walsall assess injuries to key duo
Walsall are assessing injuries to captain Adam Chambers and Andy Taylor ahead of Saturday's trip to Southend United in League One.
Taylor missed Tuesday night's 4-3 Capital One Cup win at Nottingham Forest with a knee injury, while Chambers was forced off late in the game.
Both are expected to resume training tomorrow, when boss Dean Smith will decide whether either is ready for a return.
Though he is, at 34, by some distance the oldest member of the squad, Chambers has remained durable and started 55 games last season.
The one game he missed was the 4-0 defeat away at Rochdale. Smith said: "I am hoping they will both be alright for Saturday.
"Adam won't be training until tomorrow and neither will Andy but we will certainly have a good look at them and make sure they are ready to play.
"There was only a slight doubt about Andy Taylor on Tuesday but any slight doubt now I am fortunate enough to say no, go and get yourself right.
"Adam got a whack on the knee, I thought it was a poor tackle and the lad did not get spoken to about it. It is a whack more than anything and he will recover in time."
