Neil Etheridge: Team spirit will drive us to promotion
New recruit Neil Etheridge believes Walsall's outstanding team spirit will drive them on to success this season.
The goalkeeper, snapped up following his release by Charlton, made his Saddlers debut in the 1-1 friendly draw against Villa on Saturday.
Etheridge has been at the club less than a month but says he already feels 'at home' at the Banks's.
And he believes the close-knit nature of the group will stand them in good stead when the season kicks off on August 8.
"The lads have been absolutely spot on with me and I have settled in very quickly," Etheridge said. "We've had a trip away to Wales and also spent time at the training ground and I've enjoyed every minute, it's been fantastic.
"It's easy to say that every club in this league wants to get promoted.
"But now I'm here, I can see this is a squad that really can challenge.
"Team spirit is going to play a major part and so is remaining consistent.
"But I think the tightness of this group will show as soon as the competitive action gets under way.
"I've got no doubt that we have got the players good enough to be competing for a play-off place.
"It's a very realistic aim."
