Walsall recruits Demetriou's delight at return to England
Saddlers' new recruit Jason Demetriou admits he is delighted to be back in England after spending the last five years playing in Cyprus.
The 27-year-old right-back moved to AEK Larnaca in 2010 before signing for Anorthosis Famagusta three years later to realise his dream of playing international football.
Demetriou has since gone on to win 24 caps for Cyprus, but the former Leyton Orient star is now pleased to be back in England with the Saddlers.
"It's been brilliant to be back, It's the buzz of it all and I've found in myself I'm a lot happier," he said.
"It's hard to explain because I did have five great years in Cyprus.
"But the games come so thick and fast over here and I think you are always out to show yourself, that is something I love and I'm glad I've come back.
"But I've developed a lot over the last five years, I've become a very attack minded right back and hopefully I will be able to get forward and get some assists for the likes of Tom Bradshaw and Jordan Cook."
Demetriou previously worked with boss Dean Smith while at Orient.
"Once I knew Smith and Walsall were interested this was the only club I wanted to join," he added.
