Striker Tom Bradshaw makes a triple target
Striker Tom Bradshaw has set a triple target for Walsall's last five games – reach 20 goals, rubber-stamp the Saddlers' safety and fire himself back into Wales' plans.
Bradshaw returned from injury to snatch a vital late winner, his 17th goal of the season, against Fleetwood on Saturday that gave the Saddlers a four-point cushion above the drop zone.
He wants to finish the campaign in the sort of form that saw Chris Coleman place him on standby for Wales' European Championship qualifying bid last autumn.
Bradshaw said: "Obviously because of injury I've left it quite tight but I've got every confidence that I will be able to get to 20 and hopefully it will help us stay up and push on up the table.
"My initial target was 15. Once I got to 15, I reassessed and wanted to push on into the 20s but having injuries has handicapped me a little bit.
"But with the injuries I've had this year and the amount of games I've missed, I'd be more than happy to get to 20. I think that is always a good marker for a striker in a season."
The striker's latest comeback from hamstring trouble went off without a hitch and he hopes to have an uninterrupted run-in as the Saddlers bid to seal safety
Bradshaw added: "The gaffer asked me a few times through the Fleetwood game how I was feeling.
"I said I felt fine because my hamstring felt the strongest it's felt – touch wood – for six or seven weeks.
"It felt like I've got full power back in it and we gave it an extra week to recover and strengthen and that's done it the world of good."
Bradshaw has not given up hope of edging his way back into the Wales reckoning for their big Euro qualifier with Belgium in June.
He added: "I'd like to think I'll have a chance of getting in."
