Former Walsall winger Geoff Morris dies at 66
Former Walsall winger Geoff Morris has died aged 66, the club has confirmed.
Morris scored 41 goals in 201 appearances during a nine-year spell with the Saddlers, after joining as a 15-year-old in 1964.
He made history by becoming the club's youngest ever player when he made his debut against Scunthorpe in September 1965 at the age of 16 years and 218 days.
The club took to Twitter to confirm the news this morning
Though David McDermott would later break that record when he appeared against Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup, Morris remains the Saddlers youngest ever player in a league game.
West Bromwich-born Morris was leading scorer in 1971/72 with 12 goals, before moving on to join Shrewsbury Town at the turn of 1973.
He went on to have a spell at Port Vale as he brought the curtain down on his professional career and later served Kidderminster Harriers.
