Walsall defender Malvind Benning has joined League Two side York City on a month-long loan.

The 21-year-old full-back has made 19 appearances for the Saddlers this season, though the vast majority of those have come from the bench.

A product of the club's youth system, his last start came in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy second round win at Rochdale in October.

Predominantly a left-back, Benning has also been used in a more attacking role this season, but has found his opportunities limited.

This is due to the consistent form of Andy Taylor, while the emergence of teenager Rico Henry has given manager Dean Smith enough strength in depth to allow Benning out on loan.
