Saddlers reach deal to extend Michael Cain loan
Walsall have been handed a huge boost after successfully extended the loan stay of Leicester City midfielder Michael Cain until the end of the season.
Talks to keep the 20-year-old at the Banks's have been ongoing for the past week and an agreement has now been reached.
Cain has spent the past three months with the Saddlers since initially joining on a month-long loan and has filled the void left by last year's player of the season Sam Mantom, who has missed almost all of this season through injury.
The former Luton Town youth teamer has scored three goals, including two in the last two games.
"I am really pleased that Leicester City have agreed to let Michael stay with us for the rest of the season," said Saddlers boss Dean Smith. "He has developed extremely well during his time with us and fitted in to how we do things here.
"He's a talented lad with a fantastic attitude and hopefully his progress will continue during the months ahead.
"It's been a big loss losing Sam Mantom to injury, but Michael has come in and done really well for us."
Cain added: "I've really enjoyed the first three months here. It's been a great experience and a real learning curve for me.
"It's nice to know that I will be here for the remainder of the season now, so I can settle down and really kick on.
"This is a great club to be involved with and I have developed both as a player and as a person during my time here so far. I am looking for this to continue during the months ahead."
