More than three-quarters of the tickets available to home supporters have already been sold for the second leg of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area Final on January 27.

It means the club is well set for just the second sell-out at the stadium in a decade, with Preston standing in their way of the showpiece.

Dean Smith's men will take a 2-0 lead from the first leg into the game and fans are desperate not to miss the chance to see history made.

Around 6,700 tickets have been already sold and with 1,500 given to the visiting side, it means there are approximately 2,000 remaining for home supporters.

Club officials revealed the vast majority of tickets in the HomeServe Stand and Tile Choice Stand have been snapped up, with the Family Stand being sold block by block.

Last season's sell-out against Wolves in League One was the first time the ground had been packed out since 2004.

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for under-18s and over-65s and the club's Ticket Office is set to hold a special Saturday opening this weekend as they look to meet demand.

Supporters can also purchase tickets by calling 01922 651414 on weekdays between 9am and 4.30pm.

The Saddlers play their final game before the big trophy game this Saturday when they visit Colchester in League One.

Smith's men are looking to regain some consistency after losing three of their last four games, but they remain unbeaten on the road in almost three months.

Forward Jordan Cook is keen to make an impact by adding to his goal tally. The former Sunderland ace has found the net just three times since joining the club last summer.

He said: "I think I should be scoring more. In fact, I definitely should be scoring more."
