Michael Cain extends his stay with Walsall
Walsall have successfully extended the loan stay of Leicester City midfielder Michael Cain by a further month.
Manager Dean Smith revealed last week the Saddlers were in advanced talks with the Premier League club over keeping the 20-year-old and the necessary paperwork has now been completed.
The extension keeps Cain at the Banks's Stadium until January 17, when Smith may then consider a deal to retain him for the rest of the season. Cain has made 12 appearances for the Saddlers since first joining in October.
Athough they were beaten 1-0 at Crawley on his debut, they have since gone seven games unbeaten in League One and reached the Northern area final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
Smith said: "It's a real boost to be able to further extend Michael's loan. He's a talented young lad who has slotted extremely well into the team.
"He's made a real impact and also has a fantastic attitude and work-rate. He has a bright future ahead of him and I am delighted that we have been able to extend his stay with us."
