Dean Smith content with Walsall point

Manager Dean Smith felt Walsall showed great resilience to earn a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United in League One.

Tom Bradshaw's 11th goal of the season cancelled out Chris O'Grady's opener for the hosts and extended the Saddlers unbeaten league run to seven games.

Smith was critical of his team for being sloppy in possession, but was pleased with the point.

He said: "At first, I went in and thought the result was better than the performance. I thought we were wasteful on the ball at times.

"But then just reflecting in there and having a chat with a few of the players you have to take into consideration the talent they have got at Sheffield United.

"They are a good team with good players. Chris O'Grady is a handful to anyone but I thought James Chambers was outstanding today at centre-half.

"We have had to show a resilient side to us today, because we were so wasteful on the ball, and it took them to score to kick-start us.

"Our goal was excellent. I think there were something like 25 or 30 passes. It was a great ball from Jordan Cook and a great header from Tom.

"It seemed to revitalise us and we played a lot better after that."

Smith also claimed to have seen a video replay which showed O'Grady's goal was offside.

He added: "It didn't even cross my mind, at the time, but then our analyst called down to the bench and told me was offside. It is a marginal one.

"Sometimes they go your way and sometimes they don't."
