Dean Smith: Selection of 'worldys' for Walsall

Walsall boss Dean Smith believes the competition for the Saddlers' 'Goal of the Season' will be at an all-time high.

It was the talk of the dressing room after Jordan Cook's stunner lit up the Banks's Stadium in the 3-1 win over Barnsley.

Cook - who scored two and set up Walsall's other goal for Tom Bradshaw - brought the Saddlers level with a stunning half-volley from the edge of the box.

And Smith said: "It was a fantastic finish from Cooky, and that seemed to lift us. From there I thought we played well.

"I'll take a bit of credit for it as he was standing at the back post and I was shouting for him to get to the edge of the box so we delayed the corner a little bit.

"But I can't take the credit for the finish! It was a fantastic finish.

"It was a fantastic strike, he caught it on the half-volley and it was a side-footed one as well, straight into the top corner.

"That will be in the collection of the goals of the season along with Romaine Sawyers' one against Bristol City and Kieron Morris' at Southend.

"Romaine's was pretty special against Bristol City because of the team build-up, but in terms of the technique of the strike it was certainly up there."
