Walsall have been handed a boost after their appeal over captain Adam Chambers' red card at Shrewsbury Town was successful.

Chambers, who turned 34 today, has been handed an extra birthday present with a reprieve from suspension.

The Football Association's disciplinary panel today ruled referee Gavin Ward was wrong to show him a straight red card, for a challenge on Nathaniel Knight-Percival.

The Saddlers skipper had been facing a three match ban, following the incident in Tuesday's FA Cup first round replay at Greenhous Meadow.

But Chambers is now free to take his place in the Walsall squad for Saturday's League One trip to Fleetwood Town.
