The 19-year-old midfielder's loan deal at the Banks's Stadium was, as expected, extended by a further month yesterday.

Cain has started all six games since joining the Saddlers four weeks ago, having previously only made one senior career start.

And the highly-rated teenager claims to have thrived on the pressure, saying: "It's been a great experience for me so far and one that I am looking forward to continuing.

"I knew this was a tough league but it's been a challenge that I have thrived on, to be honest. The style of play here suits me down to the ground and I was more than happy to extend my stay.

"The coaching staff and my team-mates have been unbelievable and even though I've only been here a month, I feel that I have learned a lot already.

"There is nothing better than being out there and playing games and it's been a busy schedule, with plenty more games on the horizon."

Though the Saddlers lost the first game in which Cain played, the 1-0 defeat at Crawley – they have since embarked on a five-game unbeaten run.

And manager Dean Smith believes the youngster has got "better and better."

With tonight's FA Cup first round replay at Shrewsbury and a Johnstone's Paint Trophy Area semi-final at Tranmere to come, Cain is looking forward to the next month with relish.

He said: "We're still involved in two cup competitions as well as continuing our climb up the League, so there is plenty to be positive about and I am delighted to be part of it."
