Dean Smith: All-action from Tom Bradshaw
Walsall manager Dean Smith pointed to striker Tom Bradshaw's all-action return as a big reason for their return to winning ways at home to Chesterfield.
The Saddlers' top scorer notched his sixth goal of the season just after the hour mark, as Smith's second-bottom side claimed three precious League One points.
It end a run of three defeats on the spin for Walsall and move them up four places to 19th, with Bradshaw back in the side after missing three league games with a hamstring injury.
Smith said: "Tom has an awful lot of energy and kept their two centre-backs busy. They never had two minutes peace. He took his goal really well, lifting it over the goalkeeper.
"It's nice to come in and say we deserved to win because, too many times, I have said that and we haven't had the points. We should have had seven points from the last three games."
Smith felt his side were well worth three points and feels the win was justice done, after being sucker-punched in midweek to lose late on at Crawley Town.
He said: "Chesterfield are a good team, and I said that before the game, but I felt we had the better chances and didn't take them in the first-half. But the lads kept plugging away.
"I never lost belief in the players. We didn't deserve to lose at Crawley on Tuesday and we should be sitting here with seven points rather than three."
