Challenge is threw down to Anthony Forde
Walsall manager Dean Smith has thrown down a challenge to winger Anthony Forde.
It's one the player is more than happy to accept.
Forde scored his first senior goal in last Saturday's 3-0 win over Doncaster as the Saddlers recorded their second home win in a row.
And afterwards, when praising the wide man's overall performance, Smith spoke of the 20-year-old's need to be on the scoresheet more often.
It's a requirement Forde himself appears well aware of as, after sitting down to talk ahead of tomorrow's game with Bristol City, it's almost the first thing he mentions.
"It was my first goal last week, I hope there are many more to come," he said. "I was delighted to get it and hopefully I can provide a few more and get a few more.
"That's what I need to keep doing. Hopefully I can do that on Saturday."
The goal capped what was another impressive display from the young Irishman, who feels he is now finding his stride after an August switch from Wolves.
"Definitely after the last few games and the good result on Saturday I'm feeling a lot better," he added. "I'm feeling more confident and getting fitter with each game.
"You need to settle in. The more you train with people the more familiar you get with every player so definitely things are getting better as weeks go on.
"We are learning from (assistant boss) Richard O'Kelly and the gaffer different stuff. I know which way we play now so I can obviously get into positions where I know I will get the ball more often."
Forde is also feeling no serious physical effects of his first consistent football in some time having been a bit-part player at Molineux last-term.
He went on: "I kept myself fit and it has been OK. At the end of one or two games at the start of the season I was wrecked at the end but you need that to get our full fitness out of the way.
"Last season I was only coming off the bench in early season and that's it. It's so much better to be involved and to be playing games every week. It's good, it's all good."
With his confidence up, the visit of the unbeaten league leaders to the Banks's brings no fears for Forde, who feels the Saddlers have what it takes to end City's run.
"Nobody has beaten them but we can beat any team, it just depends on the day," he said.
