Points not goals matter to Tom Bradshaw
Walsall hot-shot Tom Bradshaw insists points are more important than goals as he reflects on a red-hot start to his Saddlers career.
The former Shrewsbury Town man has five goals in eight League One appearances since moving on a free transfer in the summer.
But the 22-year-old insists results are more important than his own scoring tally.
Bradshaw said: "Something I have always prided myself on is working hard first and foremost and, personally, the result is more important than anyone scoring.
"It is nice when you do score. But it is all about getting that result, whether it is me scoring or Romaine Sawyers or Paul Downing, anyone. Winning is something I enjoy.
"My previous highest is seven in a season, but I have not played too many games.
"I am hoping this will be the first season where I am playing games week-in, week-out.
"Playing consistently is important. To get 15 is a good benchmark for any striker, any more than that is a bonus."
Bradshaw's latest goal helped Dean Smith's men to a 3-0 win against Doncaster on Saturday after they had beaten Preston 3-1 in their previous home game.
And Bradshaw believes those results showed the Saddlers are heading in the right direction.
He said: "Preston and Doncaster aren't relegation fighters. They are going to be up there at the end of the season, or at least that is what the bookies would have said."
