Dean Smith happy with Walsall's display

Manager Dean Smith hailed Walsall's all-round performance after they made it back-to-back home wins with a 3-0 triumph over Doncaster Rovers.

Goals from James Baxendale, Tom Bradshaw and Anthony Forde meant the Saddlers were comprehensive winners and Smith felt his side controlled the game.

He said: "It was a very good performance all-round. We controlled the game and I probably thought we scored our first goal just when we had come off the tempo for 10 minutes at the end of the first-half.

"I thought we controlled the game, played at a good tempo and went and pressed them well and scored some good goals as well."

Baxendale's goal in first-half stoppage was his first in more than a year, while Bradshaw netted his fifth of the campaign and Forde's was his first for the club.

And Smith admitted there were almost too many good individual performances to mention.

He said: "There were a lot of really good performances and it was hard to pick out anybody. I thought 'Fordey' was excellent, Romaine Sawyers was excellent with Tom Bradshaw and Adam Chambers.

"The two centre-halves were excellent all day so throughout the team today it was good. I can't remember the goalkeeper having to make a save.

"It's probably as good as our front four have played this season. James Baxendale had tried a few things in the first half without them actually coming off, slipped over a few times too.

"And then he does what we know he can do and what we have been waiting for him to do for a while. It was a great finish on his left foot."
