Dean Smith pleased with a draw for Walsall
Manager Dean Smith declared himself pleased with Walsall's performance following a goalless draw at Leyton Orient.
The Saddlers are still without a win in League One this term but the manager saw plenty of positives in the display.
"I thought it was a good performance, this is a tough place to come," said Smith.
"They play a bit different to the way they did last year with Darius Henderson up front but we defended the first and second ball really well.
"We have had some chances and we counter-attacked really well from winning the second ball and missed some chances.
"But I'm really pleased with the performance."
Orient's Dean Cox forced a fine save from visiting keeper Richard O'Donnell but it was a miss by Anthony Forde on his full Saddlers debut which was the game's standout moment.
The winger back-heeled wide from two yards out with the goal at his mercy but Smith was pleased with the 20-year-old's all-round display.
"He did brilliantly to create the chance and went and worked and blocked the keeper," he added.
"I think he had more time than he realised to pop it in but it was a really good debut from him."
