Walsall's Milan Lalkovic happy to have opponents running scared

Milan Lalkovic says he can cope with being a "marked man" when Walsall clash with Peterborough tonight.

The Slovakian under-21 international forward was the star of the show when the Saddlers brushed aside Posh 2-0 live on Sky Sports at the Banks's back in November, scoring a sublime opener and setting up the second for Romaine Sawyers.

It's a performance the Chelsea loanee has never tired of watching – but he accepts it means he is no longer an unknown quantity to their play-off rivals.

"I recorded the game on Sky and I have watched it 100 times since then," he said.

"I think they will be careful of me tonight. They will have to be careful. I think there will be something said from their coach about me because of what happened last time.

"So maybe I need to change my game a little bit – but I won't change it too much because I am the player that everybody saw that night and I will be trying hard to help win the game."

Lalkovic says the Saddlers are determined to get back on track after seeing their seven-game unbeaten run ended by a disappointing 3-0 defeat to MK Dons last time out – just their third league defeat since the televised win over tonight's opponents. The Posh are two points ahead of Dean Smith's men and have a game in hand.

"It's an important game and obviously you want to play in these kind of games," added Lalkovic. "It's important to get back on track as we didn't have a nice weekend last time out against MK. Since we played Peterborough last we have played really well." apart from what happened last weekend. But we have moved on from that and we are ready for this big challenge.

"We are a game ahead as well so it will be important to get something out of this game.

"It was only really the last game and against Preston where we have not played well but that happens and we have trained really well this week.

He added: "We have a strong group, strong characters, good players and we just need to believe in ourselves. When we are on our day, I don't think anybody can hurt us.
