Walsall boss Dean Smith was today confident he will add a couple more players to his squad before the weekend.

The Saddlers continued their pre-season preparations with an impressive second-half display against Kidderminster Harriers last night as they came from two goals down to win 3-2 thanks to a brace from Jamie Paterson and one from Will Grigg.

And Smith revealed he should be able to strengthen his squad with some new arrivals before Saturday's friendly against League Two Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.

"There are a couple of things bubbling and we are looking to bring a couple of players in over the next few days," said Smith.

"At the moment we are just finalising a couple of things with agents and hopefully they will be in place in the very near future. We've obviously had a look at quite a few players and there are some decisions to be made."

One player who caught the eye for Walsall at Aggborough was teenage left-back Malvind Benning who has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Saddlers having graduated from the club's academy.

And Smith admitted the 18-year-old from Sandwell could be in the reckoning when Walsall begin their campaign with a home fixture against Brentford in the Capital One Cup on Saturday, August 11.
