Jimmy Walker today revealed he wants to stay at Walsall after putting retirement plans on ice.
The Saddlers' record appearance holder wants another year at the Banks's Stadium.
The keeper will discuss his future with boss Dean Smith tomorrow, along with the rest of the out-of-contract players, with the manager ready to make a final call. But Walker wants to give the Saddlers another year of service.
"I really would miss it. I'd love to stay and see if I could help next year," said Walker, who has made 534 appearances for Walsall after Saturday's final day 1-0 win at MK Dons.
"It's been a hard season and I've come in after games and thrown things, kicked things and had tantrums but as long as there's life left, which I feel there is, I'd like to continue.
"I'm sitting down with the gaffer tomorrow so I'll have a chat with him and see what the future holds but at the minute I would miss it too much."
Walker returned for the final two games of the season to help Walsall survive and finish 19th in League One and said watching keeper David Grof blossom has given him more reason to continue.
"I enjoy seeing David come on and he's taken it to another level," said Walker.
