Florent Cuvelier today refused to rule out a Walsall return but insisted he must resolve his future at Stoke first.

The midfielder marked the end of his loan spell from the Potters with the goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield which sealed League One survival.

Cuvelier has been a smash hit for the Saddlers, scoring four goals in 18 games, as they retained their league status with a match to spare.

The 19-year-old is out of contract at the Britannia Stadium in the summer and would consider a Banks's Stadium return on loan once his future is sorted.

He said: "Next year if I could come back on loan maybe, I would be interested but I just have to wait and see. I'm hopeful about staying with Stoke but it's just about patience.

"I've spoken with the manager (Tony Pulis) and he was happy with the way I was playing and progressing. It's always nice to hear.

"It's the end of my contract in June so I have to wait and see what happens. My dream is to play in England, I love everything about England and I want to stay here. Belgium is a nice country but the football is better here."

The Belgian under-21 international struck to cancel out Lee Novak's early opener as results elsewhere ensured a point was enough to survive.

And the ex-Portsmouth youngster insisted he never had any doubt about the Saddlers' survival hopes.

He said: "It was the best finish I could ask for. It's a big relief but I knew right from the start we were going to stay up. Everyone in the changing room had the right attitude on and off the pitch. Every player has been fantastic and I'm so happy for the fans and the manager – everyone.

"I always thought there were good players here and we played some great games but unfortunately didn't win. We played some very good football against some top teams and I knew we were going to stay up.

"I am so happy for everyone. It's amazing. When you go home and you know you might go down next year it's not fun but now everyone is safe and more relaxed. The season will end on a good note."
