Walsall are hoping for a triple fitness boost for Tuesday's clash with Colchester with Adam Chambers, Richard Taundry and Will Grigg all on course to return.
The injured trio were set to be sidelined again for today's meeting with Stevenage at the Banks's Stadium.
But manager Dean Smith is hopeful all three will be available to figure on Tuesday in the Saddlers' second crucial home game in four days.
Smith said: "Stevenage was too soon for Richard, Will and Adam but I hope to have them all fit for Tuesday."
Meanwhile, Saddlers sources have confirmed they failed in a deadline-day bid to sign former England Under-21 striker Matt Derbyshire on loan from Nottingham Forest.
Forest agreed to let him move but he chose to fight for his place at the City Ground.
