Sam Mantom today revealed Walsall were left "devastated" by their Yeovil defeat but urged the Saddlers to forget it.

The Albion loanee – who scored his second goal in three games on Saturday – admitted the 2-1 reverse at Huish Park hit the Saddlers hard.

Anton Peterlin's own goal won it for the Glovers after Andy Williams' freak goal – when Jonathan Franks' shot hit him and looped in – levelled.

It left Walsall a point above the League One bottom four and Mantom insisted they must move on.

"We're gutted, everyone in the dressing room was absolutely devastated by it," said the midfielder. "To get another goal and make it two in three is great but I would have preferred the three points.

"The lucky thing is we've got a game tomorrow (Sheffield Wednesday). If we'd had to wait another week it could have affected morale but we can pick ourselves up and go again.

"We've got to get over it and we've got 10 crucial games left. It would have been nice to pick up three points on Saturday but we've still got another 10 games to get points.

"Yeovil are in great form and we were ourselves so everyone is devastated and it made the journey back a bit depressing but that's football.

"A win would have done us the world of good and we've still got a game in hand, if we win that things start to look a bit better."

Mantom, on a month's loan from The Hawthorns, hadn't scored in senior English football before his move to the Banks's Stadium and admitted he is revelling in the Saddlers' system.

He said: "They all count. It was a good strike but the keeper lost his footing or something and it's snuck in," he said. "I hit the post at Oldham but I played more defensive role there. In this team you have licence to go forward and once I go I think I can create chances and score goals."
