Kevan Hurst today urged Walsall not to blow all their hard work and fall back into their old ways.

The Saddlers host Hartlepool tomorrow on the back of a five game unbeaten run which has lifted them clear of the League One drop zone.

The streak has reignited confidence about their survival chances with the Saddlers 19th, two points clear of the bottom four with a game in hand.

And, ahead of the Pools clash, Hurst insisted Walsall cannot afford to drop their standards now.

He said: "If you look at the table now you have to realise how important the last games have been for us and how important the next ones are.

"That's how we're viewing things, every game is the biggest game of our season – that's the best attitude to have.

"There are opportunities and I don't think we're letting it rest, in training we're not. It's not about what we've done, it's about what we've got to do.

"The gaffer has been talking about getting in that zone we've been in for the last few games. The sooner you are the more focused we'll be."

Hurst had been out since October with a broken bone in his heel before returning to help the Saddlers in their mini revival.

He impressed again in the thrilling 3-2 win over Sheffield United and was involved in Alex Nicholls' late winner.

And the former Sheffield United and Chesterfield winger insisted he is back up to full speed after his lengthy lay-off.

"I feel physically as good as I felt and that's probably down to J (Jason Chidwick) and Jon (Whitney) but I feel great. The ankle feels good and there's been no reoccurrence," said the 26-year-old, who made an aborted comeback as a substitute against Bury in January.

"I'm looking to push on and the three games I've been involved in we've got three quality results. I'm just a cog in the machine and try to work hard. I've been out for four months and it's a lot of games I've missed but I'm enjoying it now.

"We've got the results and enjoyed the games and the boys want to play again."
