Walsall bid to stay positive
Jon Macken today insisted Walsall will ignore the "negativity" which he feels is trying to force its way into the club.
Jon Macken today insisted Walsall will ignore the "negativity" which he feels is trying to force its way into the club.
The striker wants the Saddlers to forget the gloom and focus on climbing out of the League One drop zone.
The Saddlers extended their unbeaten run to four games in Saturday's last-gasp 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient ahead of tonight's visit of Sheffield United.
And Macken reckons Walsall's recent revival is a turning point and they can dispel the doom merchants.
"We've got to keep believing and push all the negativity out which is trying to force its way into the team and into the club," said the six-goal top scorer. "We know we haven't been good enough in certain games this year but in others we've been fantastic.
"Saturday might be a bit of a turning point. We've got a goal for us instead of against us and hopefully it will give us belief. It does mean a lot. Every team in the world will put in a bad performance every now and again."
Eight points from the last 12 have given the Saddlers momentum at the bottom and Macken reckons their confidence is soaring.
