Richard Taundry today revealed his horror over Adam Barton's sickening injury and insisted he never wants to see it again.
The shocked Saddlers star was reeling after his fair tackle left the Preston midfielder with a double leg break and a dislocated ankle in Saturday's 0-0 draw.
Barton needed 11 minutes of treatment and was given oxygen after the challenge at Deepdale and despite being blameless Taundry admitted the incident had affected him.
He said: "You know it could have been you and it's scary.
"It wasn't nice, it's the first time anything like that has happened to me and I hope I'll never see anything like that again.
"It's not something anyone would like to see. To actually be involved in the tackle and it to be as bad as it is, it's not nice.
"I looked at the video and it was just a coming together. The lad got his studs stuck in the ground and has gone over on it. It's one of those things which happen. It was a 50-50 tackle so we'll have to hope he gets better soon.
"I got up and ran off but then I saw everyone going over and realised it was bad. Seeing the lad's leg, it's not something I wish to see again. It wasn't in its correct position.
"I spoke to their manager to see how he is and spoke to a couple of their lads and they said he was OK. Hopefully he'll be alright."
And the 23-year-old, who impressed at right-back, admitted he needed to refocus to continue with the game after the lengthy break.
He said: "It was a long wait but I had all sorts going through my head, obviously being involved in the tackle. I'd like to wish the lad a speedy recovery, it wasn't very nice for me but we got going again after that and pushed on."
The draw extended the Saddlers' unbeaten run to three games and kept them out of the League One drop zone on goal difference.
Taundry added: "We've worked hard in the last few months. We had a little bit of a sticky patch but we've corrected most of our bad points so we can now push on."
