The difficult question - to renew or not to renew?
It wasn't just Alex Nicholls's second big penalty miss of the season, nor was it yet another clueless performance, it wasn't the feeling that all of our relegation rivals seem to be upping their game, it wasn't even the fact that we now have fewer points than at the same stage last season; it is much much more that has cast the doubts in my mind, writes Saddlers blogger Mark Jones.

Since the depths of time (otherwise known as the 1980s) I've been a Walsall Season Ticket holder, 28 years in total. It suits me financially for sure and there are some other benefits (like in the old days when we used to have cup runs) but also I've always felt like I've been doing my bit to help the club, my club.
Now I'm not so sure. The club announced last week that 2012/13 Early Bird Season Ticket prices would be frozen, and last year's deals were pretty good in the first place. But realistically could they have done anything else given the incredibly poor product that's been on offer this season and the alarming lack of prospects for next?
I really don't know if I'm going to renew, deep down in my heart I want to, but what would I be funding? If I thought for one moment that my Early Bird money would help to improve what is clearly an under-strength squad or benefit the footballing side of the club in some other way (additions to the coaching staff, money for the Youth Team etc.) then I would be round the ticket office with my little piece of plastic without any hesitation.
However if parting with my hard–earned cash is merely going towards paying a rental which appears to increase in inverse proportion to the quality of performances on the pitch, or to paying off debts that the current regime have brought upon themselves, then sorry but I'm afraid you can count me out.
And I can't believe that I'm the only Season Ticket holder who is contemplating not renewing. Add this to those who now attend sporadically or those who have stopped attending at all and the powers-that-be should be worrying about the club's future every bit as much as the rest of us; and they really ought to be doing something proactive to make sure the club actually has a future at all.
