Walsall boss Dean Smith today hinted George Bowerman could earn himself a new deal at the Banks's Stadium.

The striker's contract expires in December after he was handed a six-month deal in the summer but he has impressed the manager.

Bowerman's four-goal blast in the 4-1 Birmingham Senior Cup win over Tividale last month grabbed headlines and he is likely to start tonight's second round trip to Hednesford.

And Smith revealed the hitman could net a new deal if he continues to improve.

The Saddlers boss said: "He's done really well and he's pushing for a place. We'll start thinking about a contract, it's not a problem with us. If George deserves one then I'll sort it out, no problem."
