Let me weigh up the possible scenarios of our return to cup action, in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Rochdale tomorrow night.
So, our great cup run comes to an end with a bit of a whimper, in either controversial or unfortunate circumstances.
So, our great cup run continues into three games. The performance was better, worse or about the same as recent ones but the result is all that matters.
Now let's weigh up the possible outcomes in the aftermath of the tie and the inevitable response that will be trotted out.
A cup run would have been nice but we do need to concentrate on the league, the bread and butter if you will, what with our small squad and limited budget.
Or a cup run - apparently, from what I can remember - can be a real boost to a team struggling in the league, especially given our small squad and limited budget.
Hopefully it will help boost confidence before the next round, during which time we can concentrate on the league, the bread and butter if you will, what with our small squad and limited budget!
If they were telling the whole truth, the realism is that our record in cups now is beyond a joke or it would be, simply, get in!
On another note, there seems to be a bit of a lull in proceedings with regard the sale of the freehold at the moment.
In terms of information and updates for the stakeholders, namely us, the silence is deafening.
However, I do know that the various supporters' groups are working hard trying to investigate ways of getting things moving again. At least the fans are making the effort.
This Thursday, the supporters trust are holding a sports quiz at the Saddlers Club kicking off at 8pm. Its £5 per team to enter, there can be up to six people per team and there will be cash prizes and a raffle.
At half-time, there will be the opportunity for someone to gain some serious bragging rights by becoming the first person to lift the 'Soccer Brain of Walsall' trophy.
Proceeds from the evening will be split between the Trust and the SANDS charity. It should be a good night, so come on down if you can
. Just please don't try and bribe the Quiz Master, even if he might seem to be a bit dodgy!
